With largely excellent reviews, the 2021 debut of the popular light book series "Hige wo Soru Soshite Joshi Kōsei o Hirou" also known as "Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway" was met with success. The premiere of Higehiro Season 2 has been anticipated by fans with great anticipation.
No word yet from the show's producers on whether or if there will be a second season. In a Twitter post, the anime writer hinted at a spin-off project that delves into "various things," but offered no other information. The author was overjoyed to finally put an end to the adventures of Mishima and Gotou.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of elements to consider and that the choice to renew an anime for a new season might be lengthy. A few examples of these elements are sales, popularity, and the accessibility of source material.
The original light novel of Higehiro, written by Shimesaba and published by Kadokawa under the Sneaker Bunko banner, has already come to a conclusion. From March 2017 until the release of the fifth volume in June 2021, the novel was serialized on Kadokawa's online publishing website Kakuyomu. There is no content for a Higehiro Season 2 since the first season adapted all the novels.
But the writer has announced that "Hige wo Soru: Another Side Story" will be the title of their upcoming epilogue novel. Yuzuha Mishima and Airi Gotou are the protagonists of this story that takes place at a later time. This companion novel may build upon the events of the first season, but it won't directly follow the story of Yoshida and Sayu from that season.
It is possible that the next side novel will provide additional narrative points or perhaps serve as an inspiration for an original video animation (OVA). There has been no announcement regarding when the light book series will be released.
Yoshida, a 26-year-old IT worker at a big firm, is the protagonist of Higehiro. He falls in love with Airi Gotou, his superior, but she rejects him. He meets Sayu Ogiwara, a high school girl who has run away, while he is inebriated and offers her sanctuary. While in Hokkaido, Sayu ran away from her family and has been living off of dubious means ever since.
Because to his feelings of compassion, Yoshida is unable to physically remove Sayu from his flat. In an effort to avoid being alone, they decide to live together. Yoshida eventually decides to go with Sayu so she can make amends with her family. With his assistance, Sayu's adventure away from home draws to a close, and she must say goodbye to Yoshida.
Even if there aren't a ton of loose ends in the story, Higehiro Season 2 might continue the story by delving into Yoshida and Sayu's budding romance. The absence of original content, however, makes a second season appear implausible. The characters and their tales could yet be developed further with an original video animation (OVA) episode or a spin-off anime series.
