Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. He follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who wants to become a demon slayer after his family was killed and his little sister Nezuko turned into a demon. It was published in the Shueisha Weekly Shōnen Jump shnen manga from February 2016 to May 2020, and its chapters are collected in 23 volumes of tankobon. It was published in English by Viz Media and simultaneously published by Shueisha on their Manga Plus platform.

An adaptation of the anime TV series from Ufotable was announced in the 27th issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump on June 4, 2018. The anime is directed by Haruo Sotozaki with scripts from Ufotable staff. Yuuki Kajiura and Go Shiina are anime composers, and Akira Matsushima is a character designer.
Hikaru Kondo is a producer. The series consisted of 26 episodes and aired from April 6 to September 28, 2019 on Tokyo MX, GTV, GYT, BS11 and other channels. LiSA performed the opening theme “Gurenge” and the closing theme from FictionJunction feat. LiSA. The final theme of episode 19 is “Kamado Tanjiro no Uta” by Go Shiina with Nami Nakagawa.

Netflix also began airing the series on January 22, 2021 in the US. English dub by Aniplex of America and Bang Zoom! Entertainment premiered on the Toonami block for Adult Swim on the night of October 12, 2019. Funimation began airing the English dub on December 8, 2020. Madman Entertainment acquired the series in Australia and New Zealand and modeled the series at AnimeLab. In the UK and Ireland, Anime Limited acquired the series in the region.
Before airing, the first five episodes were shown in Japan for two weeks from March 29, 2019, titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Bonds of Siblings. On March 31, 2019, Aniplex of America showed the film at the Aratani Theater in Los Angeles. On April 2, 2019, Madman Entertainment showed the film in select cinemas in Australia.
