Banking dream! follows Kasumi Toyama, a happy-go-lucky girl and a new student at Hanasakigawa Girls’ High School. During her first weeks at school, she tries out numerous clubs in an attempt to rediscover “Star Rhythm,” the “sparkling, breathtaking” feeling she had while looking up at the stars in the night sky as a child.
One day, while returning from school, she notices a path of stickers with stars that leads her to a pawnshop owned by her classmate Arise Ichigaya. In the warehouse, she finds a star-shaped guitar with shiny stickers and quickly becomes attached to it. They later visit the local concert hall, Space, where Kasumi decides to form a band after watching Glitter Green perform.
She then recruits Arisa and three of their classmates – Sai Yamabuki, Tae Hanazono, and Rimi Ushigome – to join her, though they don’t want to for personal reasons. Despite their initial misgivings, the five overcome many obstacles and eventually agree to form the “Poppin’Party”. With her bandmates, Kasumi finds the excitement she was looking for.
During their first year of high school, Poppin’Party meets and befriends four girl groups in Hanasakigawa and nearby Haneoka Girls’ High School, each with their own stories: Afterglow consists of five childhood friends who keep their friendship alive through music; Pastel Palettes – an idol group that can play their instruments.
Roselia is a gothic rock band that strives to be the perfect band; and hello happy world! they are an eccentric group that seeks to spread happiness. In their sophomore year, they meet Raise A Suilen, an electronic music group bent on revolutionizing the girl group genre, and Morfonica, a newly formed classical freshman group at Tsukinomori All-Girl Academy who dreams of changing themselves for the better.
