Attack on Titan is a dark fantasy Japanese television series adapted from the manga of the same name by Hajime Isayama, which premiered on April 7, 2013. It is currently aired on NHK General TV in Japan, Aniplus Asia in various Asia-Pacific countries, and Adult Swimming in the United States.

The story begins in a world where the remains of humanity live in three concentric cities, each of which is protected by huge walls from the attacks of the Titans, giant humanoid creatures that devour people for no apparent reason. It tells the story of the adventures of Eren Jaeger, his friends Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert, whose lives were forever changed after the Colossal Titan broke through the wall of their hometown. Sworn to revenge and reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren and his friends join the Scout Regiment, an elite group of soldiers fighting against the Titans.
An anime series based on the manga is currently being broadcast in Japan. The first season, produced by Wit Studios and directed by Tetsuro Araki, aired from April 7 to September 29, 2013, originally on Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS). The second and third seasons of director Masashi Koizuka aired for the first time from April 1 to June 17, 2017 and from July 23, 2018 to July 1, 2019, respectively, on MBS and NHK General TV. Following the airing of the final episode of the third season on July 1, 2019, it was announced that the fourth and final season of the anime series will air in fall 2020 on NHK General.
On September 22, 2020, Crunchyroll announced that the final season will air “later this year” in 2020. On September 23, 2020, NHK added a final season to its broadcast schedule, starting on December 7, 2020. A studio change was announced last season and production shifted to MAPPA. Producer Toshihiro Maeda said Wit Studio “dropped” from production last season “due to schedule issues.” The main cast of the past season included directors Yuichiro Hayashi and Jun Shishido (presenters), character designer Tomohiro Kishi, art director Kazuo Ogura, 3D CG director Takahiro Uezono, screenwriter Hiroshi Seko and composers Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto. Former 3DCG director Shuhei Yabuta was the only returning employee at Wit Studio last season.
Other Attack on Titan manga or light novels have also been adapted into anime. The two OVA episodes, based on the Attack on Titan: No Regrets prequel manga, were merged with volumes 15 and 16 of the main series, released on December 9, 2014 and April 9, 2015, respectively. In October 2015, the TV adaptation of the Attack on Titans: High School anime series was launched. The series was directed by Yoshihide Ibata from I.G. The three-part OVA Attack on Titan: Lost Girls was released in 2017 and 2018 in limited editions of 24, 25 and 26 volumes.
Following the airing of the final episode of the third season on July 1, 2019, it was announced that the fourth and final season of the anime series will air in fall 2020 on NHK General. On September 22, 2020, Crunchyroll and Funimation announced that the final season will air “later this year” in 2020. Netflix Singapore and Thailand have announced that regional broadcasts will begin on December 10 and 11.
The last season will take place on May 29th. , 2020. It is confirmed that the production studios have been transferred to MAPPA. Jun Shihshido and Yuichiro Hayashi replace Tetsuro Araki and Masashi Koizuka as the main director and director of the series, writer Hiroshi Seko takes over the drama composition from Yasuko Kobayashi, and Tomohiro Kishi replaces Kyoji Asano as the character designer. Hiroyuki Sawano was joined by Kohta Yamamoto to write the music.
